Expanding Medical Isotope Research, Development, and Production

The McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR) is Canada’s most powerful nuclear research reactor. MNR is the world’s leading supplier of medical isotope iodine-125 and the North American producer of holmium-166 microspheres.

Medical isotopes produced at MNR are used to treat over 70,000 cancer patients globally each year.

Funding from the federal government will be used to expand operating hours at MNR, enhancing the reactor’s capacity for medical isotope research and production.
